Thanks for all these great photos! I am rediscovering this wonderful film along with my children. Does anybody know where the baseball field during the end credits was filmed? I assume it is some charming community in Indiana or Illinois. Just wondering...
ReplyDeleteDo you mean with the old ladies playing? That is the baseball hall of fame field.
DeleteThat's Doubleday Field in Cooperstown, NY.
DeleteI may be wrong, but I thought some shots were taken at Bosse High School field in Evansville, Indiana right across the Ohio river from Henderson, KY
DeleteYes, that's the one.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot!
i have a bunch of set blueprints for Wrigley Field Fitzgeralds RR museum Zephyr would you be interested in buying them from me? email me at pjc.koenig@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteHey. Very nice blog!! Guy .. Beautiful .. Amazing .. I will bookmark your website and take the feeds additionally…I am glad to find numerous useful information right here within the article. Thanks for sharing…
ReplyDeleteTheir farm location was just a mile or so north of St. Phillips Inn on Saint Phillips Road. The farm and barn are not their anymore but the dirt road leading up to it is still their. The house where all the girls stayed at in Newburgh was on sale not too long ago. Live in Evansville and been to most of the places of the movie and of the roseanne show. Pretty cool
ReplyDeleteThank you for the info as I have since updated the page. One question though... Is it St Phillip Road or Phillips? I see it both ways on the maps. Tell me if I am wrong with my listing. Also when did the house and barn get torn down?
DeleteI'm from Henderson and my mom knew the lady that owned the house on north Main also know as the Magoffin house (former home of Kentucky Governor Magoffin.
ReplyDeleteI'd say the old farm house was there to begein with but either the owner tore it down or it was made to look like there was a house there, rememnber film studios can build props for their own useage.
ReplyDeleteOn IMDB, it shows Jay Littleton Field in Ontario Ca, as a location. Which is not far from L.A. Any idea which scene/scenes might have been filmed there? Or is the listing on IMDB possibly not correct. It's an older looking field, so maybe reshoots were done there, since most of the film was shot in the mid-west.
ReplyDeleteI assume that is a mistake as I don't think anything was filmed there.
Delete@Jay Littleton Ballpark, scenes from A league of their own and scenes from the movie The Babe were indeed filmed there, i am from the area and was actually at the stadium when both movies were filmed there..
ReplyDeleteSend me the screen shots of those scenes. Thanks
DeleteWhich scenes were filmed at Littleton park?
DeleteRegarding Dottie And Kit's Farm, if you look on Google Earth and look at the historical imagery, the last aerial photograph of the house was on October 19,2010. Fast forward the imagery to 3/11/2012 and the house is gone. So it hasn't been gone too long.
ReplyDeleteWrong. Not filmed in Fort Collins.
ReplyDeleteSome of Racine may have been filmed in Evansville, but if you watch in one scene you can see just above the dugout two In-n-Out cups. Plainly some of that was filmed in California as I don't believe In-n-Out was or is in Indiana.
ReplyDeleteIts' Bosse Field in Evansville, IN--not Boose Field.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I have changed it
DeleteI was in the movie. Here are some more locations you might be interested in:
ReplyDeleteThe bus scene where they stop and the bus driver quits, chasing Stilwell with candy bar, and Tom Hanks kisses the chaperone was filmed on Yankeetown Road in Yankeetown, IN outside of Booneville, IN. There was a white horse planted purposely placed in the background. The lockerroom and night bus scene where Rosie was teaching Annie Cusack how to read, plus the night bus conversation scene with Geena and Tom were filmed on sound stage sets built in the old Whirlpool factory plant in Evansville at Kentucky Ave and Franklin.
Thank you very much. I figured that spot of road would never be known. My page is now added.
DeleteWatching the movie while looking up shooting locations. Once again Chas another great job on this website of yours.
