ReplyDeleteThank You as I have since added this location.
DeleteRob Gordon's apartment is at N Lakewood and W Albion in Rogers Park. The EL overpass matches at 0:03 when Laura's about to get in her car, but you get a better shot of it around 0:55 when Cusack's leaving the apartment.
ReplyDeleteThank You as I have since added this location.
DeleteMany of the scenes were filmed here:

I am sure someone there would be able to verify this.
I worked on the scenes in Charlie's loft. Our holding location was at the Ellen Mitchell Elementary school at Oakley & Ohio. The loft itself was across the street to the north, (606 N. Oakley, I believe). The exteriors of Charlie in the window were not shot there, but the interiors for the party itself was shot there.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting these great locations! it's interesting to note that the story was originally set in London but they decided that the only possible American city that would work was Chicago (I forget why). Love this film!
ReplyDeleteBecause Cusak is from Chicago and loves the city and its theatrical community.
DeleteHe actually walks up the exit ramp at the Armitage El Stop. You enter through a massive entrance, but exit through very skinny ramps.
ReplyDeleteThe exteriors for Charlie's apartment were filmed at 1714 North Damen. I was working in the building when they were shooting there. The entrance to the building has been redone. It used to have stairs going up to the first floor, but they ripped out the basement and made the first floor of the building at street level.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the Green Mill scene?
ReplyDeleteCan anyone confirm if Rob's apartment interior was a studio set or filmed in an actual apartment?
ReplyDeleteHi, I have no idea. Sorry
DeleteRob's apt was a set . . as was the interior of the record store was also a set . .how do I know? I was the set decorator for High Fidelity . . .
DeleteThe DJ scene looks like Neo which was at the end of an alley on the west side of Clark just south of Fullerton. It closed in 2015.
ReplyDeleteNope, that's Double Door in Wicker Park. RIP. And the club they saw the female performer in was Lounge Ax
