From what I can find, it looks like the pawn shop used to be located at 1656 West Madison St in Chicago. I figured out that it was Chicago Pawners & Jewelers. When I googled them, their official website said they originally opened at Madison & Paulina. After going down the street in google's street view, I believe I found where it used to be located. However the entire block has been torn down and there is a parking lot there now. If you look at the sign on the front, it says 1656. That's obviously the address, as the food mart next door says 1660-52. Plus the pole says that there is a bus stop there, which there also is at Madison & Paulina.
ReplyDeleteDarn.. you didnt have any shots from The Music Box scene. I was outside watching that for I live right around the corner.
ReplyDeleteI didn’t see your post about The Music Box until I had already published mine. Sorry.
DeleteThe theater where they go to the movie is, “The Music Box” 3733 N. Southport Ave. Chicago.
ReplyDeleteI lived just around the corner on 3744 Greenview when I was a kid and attended Blaine Elementary School and later Lake View High School.
I found the location where Alison Porter and Jim Belushi come up the elevator in the beginning of the movie. I also took some pictures of the location if anyone is interested in adding them to the site.
ReplyDeleteThe building used for Rocky Fellers House Of Beef was the infamous Ronny's Steak Palace. Researched it tonight and found out the actual address used to be 16 W. Randolph (not 18 as noted above). Only went there a few times when I lived in the city but it was certainly as memorable as the movie made it out to be. It was open 24 hours and sold cheap steaks and other great meals.
