Slight correction: the location of that particular Westworld arcade was not Marina Del Rey, even though there was a Westworld arcade in MDR. The location in your photo looks to be that of the Westwood Village Westworld arcade, which is no longer an arcade but lasted longer than its MDR location.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the info. I have since gotten proof of the location and gave you credit for the find. Thank you again.
DeleteIs it the same mall that was ised in fast time a ridgemont high
ReplyDeleteNo it is not.
DeleteIn agreement with Benovite - that Westworld is the one in Westwood. Both MDR and Westwood locations were my second homes in the early to mid-'80s.
ReplyDeleteI was sad to see both of them go. The MDR location barely lasted to see 1990 from what I remember; however the Westwood one lasted much longer, easily through the '90s, past the whole age of arcade gaming. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. It was completely dead towards its later years.
The Fox Hills Mall is just as iconic of my '80s childhood on the Westside, and it's great to see it again as I fondly remember it. I (as do many other Gen-X locals who grew up there) still call it Fox Hills Mall, despite it being known as Westfield Culver City nowadays.
Thank you for the info. The page is corrected now. Thanks again.
DeleteIs that the same mall from Terminator 2?
